| no partners | | Unable to take instant advantage of the recent winter weather, I figured it would be best to get up the hill before the warmer temps move in this week. 15"-18" of fluffy pow proved too soft for effective flotation though the exposed spots that had seen afternoon sun had an annoying crust. By noon the crust had softened and the fluff stayed fluffy.
The lake had taken advantage of the cold snap and built up a suitably thick frozen surface. This lake has some warmer springs that feed the lake and provides some underwater currents and always makes me leery in winter. Having taken an involuntary polar plunge here before, I stuck close to shore and headed to the dam before heading downstream.
As always this is a delightful winter treat and a perfect few hours to escape the monotony of this season in the valley of the snooze. |
