| partners | | I haven't had a chance to snowshoe in Arizona yet this winter so with last weekend's plentiful snowfall and cool weather this week, the snowpack remained solid and beckoned.
We managed to get 9L on the snow for his first trip ever, and Karl took it easy on the flats. The snow had crusted over and it wasn't great for shoeing, but it was a beautiful day to spend a few hours breathing crisp, clear, winter air in the mountains and without flotation, it would have been deep posthole hell.
Access up here is becoming an issue as it appears the trailhead at the rim road is no longer being cleared for winter access to the forest. I don't know how users are supposed to access all those marked snowmobile trails if there's nowhere to stage — nevermind just park a single vehicle to go skiing or shoeing. |
