This caused us to change our pace so we could enjoy the sound of silence. There was a slight flow at Siphon Draw. The portion above the Siphon Draw seems to have changed quite a bit over the years. It almost felt like there were dual threads going up the ravine. The final leg to get to the top is still a challenge. The tree that was so instrumental in assisting in that ascent is now limbless, forcing a rocky scramble to the top. Discovered that there is actually an easier ascent to the left of the tree. (Definitely, came in handy on the down climb). Left Darrell on the “iron” while I proceeded up 4861. Occasional patches of snow made it a little more challenging. Hit the top and took a couple of picks. The high point is a little removed from the Flatiron so there were a few hoodoos between me and a clear view of the Flatiron. Still, pretty awesome views from atop. Hooked up with Darrell and we headed back down. There was quite a bit of traffic going down, but I’ve seen worse. Tons of dogs on the trail today. Saw over 10 going up the trail (two were actually on the Flatiron). Never really thought of this as a dog friendly trail. Enjoyable hike. Good company.
