| no partners | | Belated post. I wasn’t going to post this visit until I saw that it was in HAZ. Not really a hike, though some walking is involved. More of a destination, like Haystack Rock. Very ironic in that the parking for Twin Rocks is almost directly west of the parking for the Old Growth Cedar Preserve. The wife and I didn’t know this so we drove to this parking area. However, the distance is walkable.
The parking area is nestled between a couple of beach side homes with enough parking for about 5 cars. There is a nice small grassy area with a picnic table and a pathway to the beach. The Twin Rocks are off to the south of this access point. Some walking is required to approach them. (There may be other access points that are closer, but I think the one that we used was the designated parking area). I believe these rocks are always sea bound, so you can only get so close. Cool feature and worth visiting, especially if you are going to visit the Old Growth. That being said, I saw several rock formations similar to this along the coast so they are not that unique.
I didn’t have my Garmin for this. I’m guessing we walked about .75 miles altogether. One could easily extend the length of the walk if desired. The beach was sandy, wide open with little usage. Easy and surprisingly secluded walk. To get from the parking area to the beach access and be able to see the rocks was no more than a .15 mile walk. |
