Morning hike at Piestewa. Got there around 5am. A little later than I wanted. Simple up and down. Trail wasn’t that crowded. I had the main peak all to myself when I got to the top. There were four other hikers at the top but they were semi circled around the Hawaiian drummer greeting the morning. He may have wanted to play a different tune and send this one back. Horrible air quality. Some of the worst I’ve experienced. Visibility was non-existent. I couldn’t even see downtown. Oddly enough, my lungs were not adversely affected. Typically on bad air days my throat is sore after a hike. Not today. I had initially thought of doing 2 Piestewas, but I thought I would give my lungs a break.
