| no partners | | On our last day in Austria, we headed to see Gollinger Waterfall on our way back to Salzburg.
Kristine had done a little research about this waterfall, which is popular not only because it is cool, but also because it is pretty accessible--only a 1.5 mile or so hike round trip.
My expectations were somewhat moderate, but I was blown away by the falls, which are in three sections: (1) the lower falls, which is an impressive waterfall on its own; (2) a cave section, behind which the upper falls flows and which creates an impressive "window"; and (3) the upper falls, which is about as tall as the lower falls and flows out from a cave and cascades down behind the cave. It was really a "wow" experience and definitely worth the visit.
We spent about an hour and a half at Gollinger and managed to have only minimal crowds, as it was later in the afternoon when we arrived. |
