Always an enjoyable hike, though an earlier start would have made it more enjoyable

From the saddle, I walked out towards the lone pine, but settled on the views at Barks Canyon. I turned around there and headed back; the last mile at the bottom was going to be warm.

The trail is in good shape. The brushing from last winter is still holding up well. The road is also in good shape. A few ruts along the way will slow you down, but it's a fairly smooth ride until that last half mile.
