A friend is visiting from Massachusetts. Yesterday was his birthday. He wanted to hike the Peralta trail to Fremont Saddle, but that was closed until 10am due to a marathon. We opted instead for something from the Hieroglyphic Trailhead.
I saw @DarthStiller getting ready to hike to Turks Head. We chatted for a bit before he headed off. Good to see you Chris!
As we headed out, we stopped at the fork with the Lost Goldmine trail and explored our options. We chose Wedding Cake over the glyphs for his birthday hike, then referred to it as Birthday Cake for the duration.
Up top we took some photos, had a snack, reminisced about past hikes and watched the dust on Peralta Road raised by the runners.
The weather was just about perfect. Good to be out after struggling with injury and illness that has kept me on the sidelines for the most part for more than two months. |
