Between the long-term trail names by the locals to the new mountain biking crowd labels, we never pay attention to the various trail names, we just go on about our hike, changing direction at a whim, whether at a trail junction or not.
Suffice to say we started and ended at the standing-room-only parking lot at the Forest Road #12 gate... with two vehicles parked at the edge of Apache Trail, and this on a weekday. Ah yes, snowbird season.
Perfect day for hiking, clear blue skies with temps upper 50's & 60's. We only encountered a few other hikers and a pair of equestrians, so it was pretty much a day of much-needed solitude away from work for Tracey.
The only 'downer' we noted was someone spraying thin 5-10' long red lines, some with an arrow end along the way. Absolutely NONE of the trails are hard to follow so all we could think of is doing it for some kind of event? If that's the case, how about using ribbons? I guess respect and responsibility have gone by the wayside. |
