Another early morning start, meeting up at PhonD just after sunrise to consolidate vehicles - but with a surprising number of others given the early hour...possibly because it's the weekend and the weather is heating up...possibly because it was Mother's Day - or a combination of both.

Release rates right at 700 CFS for the duration that I was on the river - a surprising amount of eelgrass has already returned in some areas. Stayed to the right and avoided Pinball - with the water levels where they were, still encountered plenty of splashy bits, resulting in even more water in the boat than the last time I put in at Water Users.

Winds were moderate to high and thankfully at our backs the entire way, resulting in a lack of reflective photo ops in the upper stretch...that combined with the number of folk on the river may have resulted in reduced wildlife in the area, though there were a pair of heron that we kept disrupting up as we moved downriver - eventually, I think they got tired of us and may have circled back up river. The turkey vultures were enjoying the winds overhead - as were the nighthawks. Spotted a couple groups of wild horses, but that was it for the mammals - though my companions mentioned a possible raccoon sighting.

Unfortunately, with Salt River Tubing open again, the amount of trash observed along the river has increased significantly from plastic bags to abandoned tubes to lost coolers...and likely countless numbers of discarded cans.👎🏼

The saguaro are blooming!

Happier when hiking....I may not move fast (and I'm often distracted by wildflowers), but I'll get there eventually 😆
