The river was at its highest yet this season with the release recorded at around 900cfs. In my haste to get to the meeting point on time, I forgot to grab my sunglasses...wound up spending a lot of time paddling in reverse so I could face away from the sun and not have to deal with the glare - at least until the sun started setting.
There were a decent number of people on the river, though there were still long stretches where there weren't others around. It was mostly paddle boarders with a few tubers and a couple other kayakers.
Wildlife: A few clusters of wild horses, a rock squirrel, a skunk, along with the usual bird friends (egrets, heron, ducks, nighthawks, redwinged blackbirds). Also heard several bullfrogs. Thankfully the insects weren't so thick as to convince me to don a bug net, but I was getting close to being tempted to do so.
Made it to PhonD with just enough light to make it up the hill and deal with my gear before full darkness fell. |

Wildflowers Observation Isolated the saguaro are currently blooming. |

Happier when hiking....I may not move fast (and I'm often distracted by wildflowers), but I'll get there eventually |
