Great views of Mount Baldy's backside, Mojave Desert, the south end of the Sierras, and what I presume is Telescope Peak way out in the distance. Views into the Inland Empire were shrouded by a fog/haze inversion - a bittersweet, yet cool effect.
The return trip is a smooth cruise thanks to the switchbacks. It's a great trail. Route Scout was all over the place - my route looked like it was traced by someone going through withdrawal. Admittedly, I never use it on airplane mode so that's my fault. I cleaned it up a bit and the mileage is still 1mi+ longer than the advertised 8mi. |
