| no partners | | Two fold purpose. Wanted to try Biscuit Flat Trail again for a trail description, but I thought while in the area I would do a short jog on the MUP A Trail. Both these trails take off from the East Wing TH so this was an easy accomplishment. First, MUP A. Got to the TH a little after 6am. Even though the signage is a little spotty in places, this is a very easy trail to do. For the most part, just follow the road. Annoyingly, there are no trail markers for this trail at the TH. Looking at the trail map (at the TH) is your only clue. The trail starts out as a 4ft wide, gravely path that heads west. About .8 miles into the hike you reach a trail juncture and see your first trail marker telling you what trail you are on (typical for Peoria). At this point the trail crosses the New River Trail and becomes more like a road. There will be some minor curves as it makes its way toward the dam. Around 1.2 it will turn west and become a very wide, straight road. It ends at Paloma Park next to a dog park. I touched the fence and headed back.
Not a very scenic or exciting trail, but a nice trail for jogging. Very wide, minimal rocks and almost no elevation. No wildlife and didn’t see anyone, (except humans and their owners at the dog park). |
