Early morning hike in the Goldfields. This was the next trail on my list as I worked the area. Got to the TH around 6am. Took the Rough N Ready Trail back for about 3.3 miles. There are a couple of trail options as you pass through the “vortex”, but they will all get you to this juncture at pretty close to the same mileage. Took the connector over to Willow Springs. This is a short trail, (about .6 miles long), but it is rather distinctive. A good portion of it involves hiking a large monolithic rock dome. When I hit the wash, I only had to hike it for about .1 miles before reaching the Willow Springs Tank Trail. There was a split about .3 miles in. Keep right to stay on the WST Trail. After that there were a couple of short, but steep sections escaping small washes. Otherwise the trail was nice for all users. The views got better as you approached the saddle. Once you reach the saddle you drop down and join a very well used track. This is still the WST, but doubles as the Golden Eye Mine Trail. Shortly thereafter, the trail connected to the Javelina Mine Trail which I used to get back to the TH.

Perfect hike. Temps were in the 60’s to start and the 70’s when I finished. Hiking these trails really helped to solidify how these trails interact. All were repeats, though the western part of WST was new. Not much wildlife, a rabbit. Surprised to see two people just starting the Anniversary Arch as I was hiking up the RnR. Assuming they started from the Willow Springs TH. Also, encountered the obligatory horse rider as I was nearing the end. There have been very few times where I haven’t seen at least one rider when in the Goldfields.
