We entered at Wire Pass, encountered several (~15) mucky "cess pools" to wade, one high thigh deep but that one more water than muck. Buckskin Gulch is incredible, we got to show it off to some hikers from Switzerland, and they were duly impressed. The Boulder Jam was a bit challenging late in the day and worn out as we were. Camp site above the confluence was awesome; this is where the ravens live! There are several nests in the rocks above the camp site. No mucky crossings below the confluence but lots of water crossings. We went up to Wrather Arch at the head of a very cute little canyon and the arch is impressive. I've heard disparaging remarks about the sand-slog out the last day but we found it enjoyable-wide expansive views, decent trail, etc. but long.

Doing this in 3 days was a bit much for me, 17.4 miles on the GPS the last day, the other two were full days as well, all with an over-full pack. I should join the truckers union for all the freight I hauled and didn't use this trip. I am not a fan of water hikes and my inexperience showed. Pretty bad blistering on both feet from some improvised footwear.

BLM is making a valiant effort on salt cedar control, but I'm afraid it will take ten times what is going on so far. We saw several patches that have been cut and burned, some that are piled up waiting for the burn, and many patches further down stream. The map pamplet they send with the permit is a great piece of work, good maps, some history, flora and fauna, etc.
