| no partners | | I haven't done this hike since the avalanche a few years back. I hiked the Bear Jaw - Waterline - Abineau loop. I'm usually better on finding dowhill routes than uphill routes and I wasn't sure what to expect on Abineau. Now that I've hiked it, I would say that it is well-defined. Abineau is the highlight of this hike. It is a cardio delight if you're looking for cardio and it has the views. Bear Jaw is a forest hike and Waterline is a road hike with a few views near the Abineau junction. The destruction from the avalanche is awesome. Abineau is definitely 4 or 4+ rating - especially if you like challenging cardio hikes. Bear Jaw and Waterline are at best 3's but Abineau keeps this at a 4 rating for me. I started early and I was the only POV at the TH. When I finished, the TH was packed. Lots of people taking their dogs on this trail. |
