This time I took my dog Zoe on the hike. She is a Border Collie with some Lab in her, rescued her in April this year and wanted to get her out in the country. She is typically afraid of water, but the intense heat of the mid day sun helped to ease her fear or trauma of water (previous owner was abusive) and she has the making of a great trail dog.
There is always a good crowd of people at the trailhead and for the first 1-3 miles you will see day hikers, sun bathers, but going in farther to crossing 3 and 4 the people fade away and it becomes quite peaceful.
Easy hike in and out, 2 hours each way to the 4th crossing. I got in early on Friday, started at 12noon, not the best idea, Zoe was heating up pretty bad but we got to the first water hole and then crossing #1 and she was fine from there out. My buddy got in late Friday and actually night hiked into the 4th crossing to find us relaxing.
Dog friendly hike. |
