| no partners | | Been wanting to hike up here for awhile. Drove to the base of the mountain, between two shooting ranges and started my ascent. First part included climbing over large volcanic rock before I reached the flat mesa. The flat mesa part was easy, with occasional travel through ankle high grasses. Soon made it to the base of the middle part. There is a faint trail, marked with cairns heading to the top, but it's not that apparent. View from the summit is nice, didn't find a summit log. There's a fair amount of graffiti / markings on the northern edge.
The hike was good, didn't particularly enjoy the nonstop gunfire the whole hike though. Best to hike when there's a fire ban in effect to avoid all the shooters. |
