First trip to Bridal Falls, hadn’t gotten around to it before. Bit disappointing as it was already virtually dry, just a little dripping water. Climbed up above and saw it was virtually dry up there also.

Out for another social hike with the guys from S.A.R.A., seems the objective of these hikes is go back to where they had a rescue and figure out new and exciting ways to get in and out of an area. Big mistake not wearing pants today, lots of bushwhacking and off trail this morning.

Hiked up Douglas Springs for a bit before venturing off trail to dip into a large drainage and canyon just to the north of the main trail. This is where it gets tricky. Started off rock hopping up a wash until we came up to an area with some natural falls. Cliffed out, so made some detours around and continued to the next set of falls. Spent most of the morning either scrambling up slot canyons or figuring out how to get around them. One of those hikes where it took almost an hour to do one mile of bushwhacking. Did this until we got up to where the drainage intersects with Douglas Springs and got back on the trail. From there meandered our way back via Three Tank, Garwood and Carillo trail back to the main trailhead.

Nice morning hike with a good friend. The weather was beautiful, cool and breezy. From Douglas Spring trailhead headed south on Garwood. Saw only one other hiker on this spur. The damn was neat. Thought about climbing down to explore the little nook but rocks were pretty slippery. Continued east on Carrillo/Three Tank until meets back up with Douglas Springs. Decided to take the spur to check out Bridal Wreath falls as Tucson has had quite a bit of rain lately. It was running strong with about 3 feet of water in the pool. Met quite a few hikers heading up to the falls as we descended back to the trailhead. Saguaro NP never disappoints!

Needed to get out and hike but had to stay close to home so I decided to do some trails in Saguaro National Park. I starting at the Douglas Spring Trail Head early in the morning to avoid the heat. Took the Garwood Trail to the Carrillo Trail and then the Deer Valley Trail to the Squeeze Pen Trail. Now that I am at the start of the Carrillo Trail I can start the Carrillo three Tanks Loop. After hiking in the Mazatzals and along the Mogollon Rim in Payson these trails had fairly moderate elevation gains and the trails are in excellent condition, had no problem keeping a pace of almost 3 miles an hour. The humidity was up since the monsoons arrived and the streams while not flowing had an accumulation of water in the pools. Very nice trails to hike early in the morning or later in the evening after a rain. This was the first time along the Three tanks Trail that I didn't run into a horde of Rattle snakes along the upper part of the trail near Aguila Tank. Only ran into one other person hiking until I was returning along the Garwood Trail where I ran into 3 others.

I had to spend the night in Tucson for work, so what better idea than to get in a good little hike? I did not have as much time as I hoped (i didn't get to the trailhead until 4:30) so this seemed like a good choice. All of the short trails right around the Douglas Springs trailhead are a bit confusing and overlapping, but certainly nothing too crazy. After I got about a mile in, I had the whole hike to myself and didn't see anyone else. Since we had some good rain (and even a little snow) the day before, i was hopeful to find some moisture at the falls, and I was not disappointed. There is a nice secluded grotto amongst some One-seed Junipers and Emory Oaks where there was a steady shower coming down from the falls. Great views of the Gaileyuro Mountains once I got a bit higher along the ridge. Well worth the trip!

Beautiful day for a hike here in Southern Arizona. It had been raining the last few days and the trails were spongy. The wind was blowing and it was a wonderful 50 deg outside! Started at the Douglas Spring TH at the end of Speedway Blvd. Continued to Garwood trail and took that trail all the way to Carrillo which leads up to the Garwood Dam. Was hoping there would be water in the dam but there must not have been enough rain. It's been a super dry season. From there continued up the Carrillo Trail until I reached Steel Tank at the Three Tank Trail junction. Looped down to Wildhorse via Three Tank Trail and back to Garwood for a short walk to the TH.

Edit to add along the Carrillo Trail I spotted two deer as they were running away up the hill. They were too fast for photos!

I was the first person to hit the trail after a decent size monsoon hit the east side of town. Enjoyed running on a trail that had just been washed clean of any footprints. Got to see several washes running that are usually dry.

Went for a run from Broadway trailhead. Didn't really know how long of a run my legs were up for, so I just took off with no real destination in mind. It was nice and cloudy out for most of the time I was on the trail, I even had a couple small showers. Ended up running from the Broadway Trailhead, south to Loma Verde Trailhead, back north to Douglas Spring Trailhead, then swung south to Pink Hill and worked my way back to where I started. I think I covered nearly every trail between Speedway & Cactus Forest Drive!

Yesterdays cloudy weather had me regretting not getting outside, so I headed our for a run in SNP East.

I have never done a run with much elevation gain, so this was really a new challenge for me. The initial climb from the trailhead to Bridal Wreath Falls took a lot out of me. I had planned to cool off in the water, but was disappointed to discover the falls were dry.

Back on the trail, and headed downhill, I found my energy coming back and picked up the pace. Unfortunately, I had forgotten how steep several sections of Three Tank Trail were and I came down one of the hills a bit too quickly. In my frantic effort to keep my feet underneath me, I ended up kicking a rock and injuring my middle toe on the left foot.

I ran through the pain, and by the time I reached the Wildhorse Junction I found I was still willing to take the detour to Little Wildhorse Tank (where I was surprised to find water!).

After returning to the trail, I worked my way past Garwood Dam and headed back to the parking lot.

I did a short version of a loop that included Little Wild Horse tank and Garwood Dam after work today with Deb. We hiked from the Douglas Springs TH to the Garwood trail until we hit the Little Wild Horse trail. From there we continued on to the Tank. We thought the water would be flowing since it had snowed recently, but nothing must be melting up above. The level in the tank was low and there were not any frogs (last time I was there I saw many frogs). On the way back we took the Carillo trail to the Garwood Dam and then the Garwood trail to Little Wild Horse trail making a loop. The sunset was great!

Took this hike to check out the dam and try a new camera. Somehow we missed the dam and hiked up hill for a while till the trail split at another trail. Saw lots of little gray lizards and nice views of Tucson and the various mountain ranges.

Came in from the Douglas Springs TH and used Garwood Trail to Wildhorse. Then back to Wildhorse Canyon. Back out in reverse.
