| no partners | | Laid back Sunday morning hike in Gold Canyon from the Hieroglyphics TH. Did a loop with Gold Canyon, Cougar, Gila Monster, K and Lost Goldmine Trails. I hadn't hiked Gila Monster in 9 years already so this made it kind of new.
The views up on the south side of Superstition Mountain behind Turks Head are always nice. Very few hikers, saw only 2 and one biker early on. Lot was nearly empty when I got back, which is a big contrast from when the weather is nicer and it's packed. Seems like many people were getting back when I did, having the same idea to beat the heat. The weather actually never got too hot, so it was very pleasant all around. Saw a snake at the very end of the hike that got off the trail fast and hid under a palo verde, but I was still able to get a shot. |
