beverly ridgeline javelina loop with 23 pound pack
these little rucks are very helpful for doing the real thing
nice morning, even with a late-ish start
0600 start for a 20 pound ruck
nice enough at this time
beverly parking closed due to utility work
had to detour around part of the trail under the powerline
just a few people out
A little loop to take advantage of the cool weather and celestial delights. MDN has newly cut switchbacks coming down to the Beverly junction along with a bunch of new sign posts. A lot of headlamps visible on the trails for the first half, but then mostly dark thereafter. Moon finally appeared, but it was still too low to turn off the headlamp by the time I finished.

Hiked Ridgeline trail again with Victoria as our weekly fitness hike at sunset.
The view of the city lights was great and the City of Guadalupe was putting on a fireworks display while we were on our way back. This was a great place to watch them, although Marcos De Niza trail might have provided even better views.
I also didn't get attacked by a bee this time so that was nice.
I took Javelina Canyon up towards Mormon until my turn around time. Then ridge line - Beverly/ Pima Canyon Loop back. Late start. Flowers were peppered not clustered today. Lots of maps and apps out today. Gave directions to 3 different groups. Nice outing.
Hiked to Two Peaks on the way to Hidden Valley and back.
I was the first one in the lot at the Javelina Canyon trailhead.
Very warm out but breezy, so not that bad.
Pretty sunrise. High clouds with a chance of rain, but nothing developed.
Didn't see anybody except one mountain biker until I left Hidden Valley, then about 25% of a normal weekend morning.
Glad to be done early.
double digit day
got going a little after 0700
did my figure eight with extra credit through hidden valley and further on national to eagle pass
not many people out, more mountain bikers than hikers
*mormon loop has been renamed, part of javelina canyon now
I did Beverly first. The Scorpion Weed showed up as I got to the Ridgeline. It had a good showing all along the Ridgeline with Poppies sprinkled in. Once on the Javelina the Scorpion weed lightened up while the Poppies picked up with some good splashes here and the there. The Scorpion weed picked back up as you approached the water tanks.
Just a few Brittle Bush occasionally. Some nice clouds too. I didn’t hit the trail until after 3:00pm.
Enjoyable outing!
