Spent most of the day at the reservoir.
We hiked around to the inlet waterfall, fished a bit, then around the dam.
Hiked up to the Frye Canyon TH and down to the bottom of the smores waterfalls.
Was a good day spent on the mesa with my buddy!

Parked at the Coronado sign :next: Hiked across the Swift Trail and dropped down into Jacobson Canyon :next: Down Jacobson to John's Dam :next: John's Dam down to Goat Tank :next: Back out to the Swift Trail and back around to where I parked completing a lasso loop.
Low canyon water flow, nothing going over the dam and Goat Tank was low.
Saw a water turtle in the creek and kicked up a javalina at Goat Tank.
Got warm out, but was an enjoyable hike!

Drove up to Ladybug Saddle and back for the fall colors.
The switchbacks above the cabins did not disappoint!
Also stopped at Twilight Rd and did the short hike down below the cabins.

Started from Cunningham CG.
Over to Moonshine Creek, out to the overlooks then back.
Several golden aspen patches along the way.
Moonshine was flowing strong.
Lots of white-tails, counted 17 for the day!
Very nice fall colors along the Swift Trail on the drive up.

8 years removed from the Frye Fire and it's still a bit hard for me hiking this trail system.
This hill was cooked, but this is the time of the year it shines!
These 7 year old aspens are getting big and spreading everywhere.
Lots of visual gold along the trail and hillsides.
This area will be an epic aspen forest in the near future!
Beautiful October hike!

The telescope tour season always ends with the employee's family and friends tour.
This was my second year in a row invited up as a friend.
It started with a big pot luck dinner followed by the Large Binocular Telescope tour.
At sunset we all gathered at the edge of the telescope to watch the 2 giant doors open.
What an amazing sight to see the telescope doors open and the beauty of the mountain top a few stories below us. They then rotated the entire base towards the sunset ... :pk:
The night ended back at the kitchen for desserts before the drive back down the Swift Trail home.

It was a wonderful evening, I have some great friends and I hope to go back next year!
