Drove up the Swift Trail to view fall colors.
Took 366 up to Ladybug Saddle and slow rolled it back down stopping at a few places for short hikes into the colors.
I'd say just about peak right now 5000 ft up and higher.
The lower portion needs a bit more time.

2 day trip to the end of the Swift Trail mainly to see CP Flat's colors.

Day 1 -
Took the Swift Trail to it's end and hiked CP counterclock. The aspens looked good, not peak yet, but good enough for me. I then drove to Riggs Lake, picked a campsite for the night and hiked around the lake on the Lakeshore Trail. Only 2 other parties camping that night. Campfire, dinner and an early bed. Awoke to 34 degree temps ... yikes (for me)!

Day 2 -
Packed up camp and drove out to Grand View. After some wandering around the area, I made it up to the peak. I think I've taken an unplanned different route up to that peak every time. A little further down the road I stopped at Chesley Flat for a short one down Blair Canyon ... I had to scratch an itch.

The aspens up high will be peaking soon and everything else on the drive up/down is just starting to pop.
Saw many deer, Abert's & turkeys along the way and had a campsite skunk for night 1

T'was a good trip!

First up Wet Canyon to the climbing wall then back.
Second up to the Noon Creek upper crossing then back.
Low water flow at both.
Can see lots of turning aspens up high.

First visit since the fire.
I knew it would be bad ..... and it was.
Total tree loss 360 for about 90% of the hike ... and well beyond.
This one hurt!
On the + ... many, many new aspens already higher than my head.
Animal count - 7 deer, 1 skunk & 1 raccoon
:(

First took Arcadia up to the Wet Canyon crossing.
The crossing is now a bit dangerous from all the flooding.
Dropped in and took the canyon down for the first time ever ... and probably last!
Slow going rock hop and path finding adventure.
Exited at the Wet Canyon trail up to Arcadia.
Tough going route, but a lot of fun.

Up to "the meadow" and back.
Just wanted to relax with a sit camp for the afternoon.
Beautiful, relaxing and with threatening skies that took it easy on me.
3 deer, 1 skunk and an old friend were spotted today.
:)

Went to pick berries,
Found very few and also found the trail to be in bad shape.
I doubt this trail will survive a few more years, another side effect from the Frye Fire.

It's been a while!
Still my all-time favorite SE playground.
Everything looked hoodoo great, except Echo Park ... what a mess.
Unbelievable amount of deer along Silver Spur (18-20) including 2 very nice bucks.
Big lightning cell hitting as I left.
Monument has been recovering well from the fire.
Shall be back ... this place rocks!

Back at Moonshine to see more.
Camped at Cunningham.
Trail to creek full of yellow sunflowers at every meadow.
Took the creek down a bit on this trip.
Camped under a blanket of stars on a clear night.

Took Coal Creek to the NM boundary then back. No water flowing which was a bit surprising given all the recent monsoon rain in the area. Wet forest, but dry creek ...
Next was my first hike up Maverick Hill. Made it just 2 miles up before the heat, humidity & threat of more storms had me headed back down ... will be back to finish this one another day.
2 beautiful forest trails, a couple stops at the campgrounds & the always scenic drive to and from and I was happy with my Monday choices!
:D

Hiked to the Heliograph Peak overlook from the campgrounds.
Then spent several hours day camping at the campgrounds.
Lots of deer sightings today including 2 young fawns with mother.
A few monsoon cells on and around the mountain.

Dairy and Sawmill area were beautiful!
Green everywhere with apples and grapes coming in nicely.
Jacobson canyon had a bit of running water and I encountered a family of Mexican spotted owls (a first for this area).
Also took a short drive down Twilight Road and rode out about a half hour monsoon downpour.
Another short stop at RTM CG and the Deadman Curve overlook before leaving the mountain.
Good Time

The back trail to Snow Flat, 80% tree kill from the Frye Fire and is not recovering as well as other trails.
Big Creek Falls, beautiful the whole hike down. Low water flow, but full of wildflowers and butterflies and a hell of a lot of fun to climb down. I skipped the falls .... high wind made me decide on another day.
Car camped for a bit at Snow Flat.
Good Day
