Had a great time hiking out on Second Water to Boulder Canyon trail intersection area. Cooled off a bit in the water in the creek. Spent the night and came back in the morning. Great time to be out hiking and camping in the Superstitions. Could not believe how green it was.

Beautiful hike. Kids enjoyed it too. Our youngest did it as an out and back while the oldest went through the canyon.

Took my oldest on this hike. She has wanted to do this and was finally ready. She did great and had a great time. We had lunch on top of the mountain with a great view.

We took the kids to see how far they could go. Were we surprised. Our 8 year old made it to the waterfall and wanted to go farther. The almost 5 year old made it over a mile one-way.

Thanks to the recent wet weather, there was a lot of water in the falls area. My wife and oldest loved it.

Ran into lots of nice people on the way.

Took the girls again. My oldest made it the whole way no problems. My youngest went halfway and then wanted to go back, so the wife took her to the car. Another beautiful day, temp was about 65 at the start.

Did this hike with the whole family, wife and 2 kids (4 1/2 and almost 8 years old). The kids had no problem with the hike, so it is pretty easy.

We started at about 8:30 from the trailhead. This hike is similar to its sister hike from the south, Telegraph pass. The main differences are, a lot less crowded, and a more natural look to the trail. Both are major pluses in my book.

We hiked to the road then followed National trail up to the stone hutt at the top of the mountain. Again, both girls were able to hike this part of the trail.

The weather was nice and everyone we saw on the trail were friendly and greeted us with a smile and wave or "morning".

Great trail for the young or those just getting started hiking.

We did this as a family introduction to hiking for my two girls. Both my 4 year old and my 7 year old were able to finish the entire hike. My 7 year old an I went all the way to the stone "hut" that we saw while hiking while my wife and 4 year old stayed at the bench along the road at the end of the trail.

The parking lot was CROWDED! There was no were to park, we had to wait for a parking space to open so we could park. Cars were parked along the curbs and in any space/place available. If you are going to do this hike, get there early, or go during off peak times. We got there at about 8:00am. Won't make that mistake again.

The hike is what we expected, fairly easy, short, crowded, lots of friendly people along the trail. For the girls, it was a great introductory hike, for me, I would not bother with it again.

This is a nice easy hike. We took our 3 and 7 year old daughters on this hike and they had no trouble. We has lots of fun looking at all of the wildlife in the area. I was even able to get some close-up shots of a duck in the creek.

The trail has been wiped out a bit by people going off trail so much, but it is still easy to find. This is a good hike for the young ones.

My brother and I did this hike on Saturday. Lots of people on the trail. The creek is beautiful and the weather was perfect for hiking. We took our time and took lots of photos of the creek.

We stopped on the creek to eat lunch after taking about 100 photos. The return hike only took about an hour and a half. I will do this hike again later this year to see what kind of fall color you can see.

The trail is easy to follow and requires little effort. The weather and the creek help make up for the busy trail. But, due to the traffic on the trail I can only give this a 3 for a rating.

As stated in the description this is not a "hike". I went with the family, and we were able to take my 6 month old in a jogging stroller to the ruins with little difficulty.

We only checked out the Honaki Ruins. Nice area, great ruins. If you have the time and are interested in ruins check it out. Most of the walk (all 100 yards) is in the shade.

This is a nice easy hike to a very nice area. The bridge looks great from above and below. The landscape in the area is also beautiful.

I took the family on this hike. My 3 year old was able to hike up to the bridge on her own. My 6 month old also made the trip (on my back). On the way down I had to carry both kids. With such a short hike it was not much trouble.

The most confusing part of the hike was finding the real road 152. There is a FS152 to the right and 152C and 152D to the left. Go to the right!

Also, after you finish this hike, if you want to go 4 wheeling to an old cabin, go a mile further down 152 take a left on a narrow road. Follow it to a turn around, the Van Deren Cabin is about 50 yards off the road. This is a moderate 4X4 trail, do not attempt in a 2X4.

We did this hike the day after a light rain and a cold front. The drive to the trail head took a little longer than expected due to some thick fog. But, the fog made for a real nice sunrise. The dirt road to the trail head is rutty and bumpy. I would recomend a truck, cars would have a difficult time.

At the trail head we met a group that had camped overnight. We took off on the trail at about 0900. There was patchy frost on the ground and fog in the valleys. The scene was from a movie. You look off into the distance and see the tops of mountains above the fog.

The start of the trail is cake, smooth and very little incline. After about 2 miles, the grade increases. At about 2.75 miles, you get to the real incline. Great workout. Even at a cold 40 degrees, I was able to soak my t-shirt and long sleeve thru (thank goodness I brought an extra shirt, I was able to wear a dry shirt for the way down).

At the top, the view is great. Thanks to the wind and rain yesterday, we could see pretty well. The only problem was the fog. On the way out to the trail, you do wonder if this is going to be a dud. Don't be fooled, the views are great.

This is a great hike, not too many people there, good incline to the peak, great views, and a good distance (we added going to the second peak at the top which adds a little). This is a solid 4.

Driving out to the trailhead we were treated to a beautiful sunrise. At the trailhead we were greeted by a park ranger. There were a few other cars at the trailhead and we ran into a few groups along the trail.

The hike itself was nice. The trail is easy to follow, well marked, and has little elevation change. The distance is the only thing that makes this hike more than a 1 in difficulty.

Just some quick highlights of the hike. The Cholla forest is impressive. I have seen cholla on hikes before, but to see that many with the size they have, WOW :o . The view of Weavers was nice.

We lengthened our hike by going out along Dutchman trail to Caballo camp. Talk about a nice spot to live. I can see why they chose that location. Read Hiker's Guide to Superstition Wilderness for more info on the camp.

The hike was nice. A great hike for beginners that are not couch spuds. This was going to be a hike for a group of first-timers, but they all backed out :?: I would recomend this hike for first timers. For me, the hike was too flat, too busy (watch for fresh apples), and lacking in the great view department.

Hike difficulty is a 2.5 (distance only).
Hike rating - 2.

As you can see, I hiked with my brother, see below...

Before we left, I was debating taking a long sleeve shirt or just using the old tee. When we got to the trailhead, I was glad I brought the long sleeve and almost wished for a jacket. It was cool and breezy.

As we hiked up the gentle slope, the blood was flowing just enough to get warm. Had to watch for a few trail apples left by some horses, but the first part of the hike was P.O.C.

We got to the first real incline, on that nice smooooooothe surface near the waterfall. I would not want to be on that when it is wet. Looking up, I could not believe that we would get to the top.

After a real good hike/climb we got to the top. We first went over to the Flatiron to take in the view. The breeze had cleared the air, so we could see pretty far. Great views all around.

We went up to the area for a true summit. After eating lunch, man did I get hungry on the hike, we took more photos and headed down.

Now, the hike was taken down a notch when we encountered idiot boy. He was part of a small group of adults and kids. Idiot boy threw 2 rocks (small boulders) down the trail. The first he used to destroy a cactus, the second was sent down the trail causing people to scramble to safety. The adults, they did nothing. Next, Idiot boy took a leak 5 feet from the trail. The adults, they did nothing. Idiot boy may just be that uneducated as to proper behavior on a trail, but the adults should have known better.

The downhill part of the hike was much easier than the uphill. We saw 2 dogs going up, one being carried, the other still walking. Lots of people on the trail.

The hike was physically demanding, the views were great, just too many people to give it a 5, so it gets a 4. Idiot boy, he's lucky to be breathing

Although this hike is really easy, it has some very good points. First, I was able to take my wife (7 months prego) and my 3 year old daughter. Second, there are loads of plants and information. Third, this are several 'trails' to take, for a variety of abilities. Finally, lots of places to sit and rest on the trails.

This is not a hike for people that want a challenge. I consider this a nice walk. But, my daughter got to go hiking with her dad, and my wife was able to get some exercise.

For all those people out there that have friends/family coming into town, this is a great place to introduce them to desert hiking. My mother-in-law would be able to take the main trail. Her idea of hiking is a paved trail  .

An easy outing, pleasant views, nice weather... I give it a fair.

We got to the trailhead early, 0700 hours. We were the third vehicle in the parking lot. Had to use credit card to pay the fee (both machines refused to take cash). After getting our gear on, we started the hike.

The trail is easy to follow. The canyon walls were toying with my GPS, so I turned it off for the hike. It didn't take long to get to Freemont Saddle. A great view of Weavers Needle. The clouds and mist (can't call it rain) really made for some great photos of the needle. I will post a photo or two when I get them back.

Before leaving the saddle area, there must have been 20 to 30 people there.

When we got to the parking lot to leave, the overflow lot was almost full. Park Rangers were ticketing cars that did not pay, crime doesn't pay  !

Nice hike, Great View, too many people, Its average.

Did the optional route, using the Peralta trail. Actually, started out on the Peralta trail, cut out to the Weavers Needle view, then across to Bluff Loop.

The views were great. Took some photos, will upload when they come back.

Got just a little mist/sprinkle on the hike, temperature was great. Overall, a very nice hike.

What a great hike! This is at least a three part adventure. The drive in is a lot of fun. The hike up to the saddle is great. The climb up the mountain was... it was interesting.

I was able to convince my brother to go on this hike with me. I had read about it on the web site and also in a couple of books. It sounded like a fun and challenging hike, challenging is right.

The drive 18+ mile drive in from the highway was fun. Glad I had a 4x4 vehicle. Some of the ruts in the road are getting big. After bouncing around in the truck for about an hour, we got to the trailhead. We were there on a Friday and there were 3 other cars parked at the trailhead. No one else was around.

We started our hike at about 8:45am. The trail to the saddle is a great incline trail. At over 5000 ft level, it doesn't take long to start breathing heavy. The views along the way were great. I hope to upload some pics later. Once at the saddle we took what looked like the common path toward the peak. From there on it was an adventure. :o

We started up the mountain and must have circled around from the north side to the south side and back again during our climb/hike up. We were about to call off the ascent when I was finally able to find a decent path to the top. What a feeling and what a view :) ! We logged in our trip and had lunch.

The trip down was... it was. We came down the north side. The return to the trailhead was really easy. Overall a great hike. Just a few bumps and bruises

We hiked this trail as a family. My wife has never been a big hiker, her family thinks a hike is walking on a paved trail outside  ! I got the pleasure of lugging my 2 year old daughter in a backpack. My parrents came along for the hike also. It was REAL cold at the start. We were all layered up. The hike was easy. The views were nice. A good basic hike for visitors that want something close and easy.
