The trip up was a little strenuous and there was too many people on the trail (on Christmas Day even), but the trip back down was fun and fast. Overall the hike was okay even though I had strep throat and Jane sniffled the whole time.

Not that fun of a hike (but not awful either), a little long (at least after 9 miles on the Black Mesa and Boulder Canyon Trails) and full of rocks ! Being down in canyons blocks your view of many of the good sights in the Superstitions. We hiked it as part of a loop and enjoyed Black Mesa Trail much more (or do the other side of Black Mesa on Lost Dutchman's Trail #104 for a better time).

We decided to take the alternative return path through Boulder Canyon (big mistake, lots of rock scrambling required) which was disappointing. We couldn't find a way through all the cholla to the top of Black Mesa either. But there was plenty of great views of Weavers Needle and the Superstitions.

We did this trail by accident, not too bad of a hike. Nice scenery, easy trail to hike, just watch out for all the horses.

We had to make our own trail up to Massacre Grounds (the actual massacre location) from O'Grady Canyon. Route / trail finding skills is a must and make sure you are familiar with the area or at minimum have a good map or GPS.

The view was great and getting to the Massacre Grounds was a bitter sweet victory for us after all that hiking (12.6 miles in the end for us).

We quickly hiked La Barge Canyon View during a break in the rain today. The views of La Barge Canyon were great and the view down the Superstitions (including Weaver's Needle) were also neat, but that was about all that was exciting on this hike. All in all an okay hike if you happen to be up in the Canyon Lake area.

We hiked to both the Southeastern and Northern Summit of Pass Mountian, the view was spectactular from both. We signed the register atop the Northern Summit and hiked the entire Pass Mountain Ridgeline. Even though that got us turned around a lot and added some time and distance to our trip (read semi-lost) it was still a great adventure.

We only went up the Wind Cave trail, after spending some time checking out the "cave" we continued on to the Pass Mountain Ridgeline. We would definitely recommend this route to anyone that has the time.

The trail itself was okay, but there was way too many people on the trail. Plus no firearms ('deadly weapons') allowed on the hike, we won't be going back anytime soon.

We did the Pass Mountain Loop, and 'The Pass' we took a detour to the East up the Goldfield Mountains and walked the Goldfield Mountain Ridgeline for a bit.

When we got to the Superstition ridgeline we went left (instead of right to the Flatiron) to the peak of the Superstition Mountains at that location (5000 feet elevation exactly). It looks like the top of the world, the only point higher appears to be Four Peaks way off in the distance.
