My first hike in 2 years! I didn't make it all the way to the summit due to a couple setbacks, but I'll get over it. The first set back came on the Goat camp trail while I was looking for a cairn on the left (east). I past one the right bad thought "that can't be it". I kept going south on GC for about 15 min. before I turned around. When I got back to the cairn it took me another 15 min. to find the first 50 yards of the trail. At last I reached the foot of the summit and went up the road that goes right. That road doesn't go to the top but by the time I figured that out I was afraid I didn't have enough time to go back down and then up the correct road. So, I turned back without having met my goal. I took Willow canyon back because I was making great time and it turns out I would have had the time to make the summit after all. :x

Took my boys fishing for the first time, to the same place I caught my first fish. At ages 4 and 7 they did great on such a steep trail.

Took the family on this short but kid friendly hike. We had a great time. The boys walked whole thing, except out 2 year old finally gave up with about 1/4 mile to go. We even took our 8 month old baby girl on her first hike(she slept the whole time). Not a lot of water, but I've seen less. My wife noted that every time we do something outdoors I can't seem to stop smiling. It was great to be out again. :)

My wife picked me up from work at 6:30am and we headed east to take the kids on the lizard walk. We didn't see a lot of lizards but did see two western diamondbacks. Harlen(our four year old) walked and I had Elijah(the 18 month old) in the carrier. We had lots of fun. It was also nice to see that the desert looks so much better east of Phoenix. We live in Buckeye and it has been pretty bad for several years. :(
