Hiked a double extension to the normal Blevins trail. Started at the Horse staging area on the East end of the Usery Mtn. Park road at Blevins TH. From this trail we went North along the west side of Cat Peaks to round the Peaks and back to Blevins. Continued on Blevins west to Moon Rock trail which is a 1.5 mile loop that reconnects to Blevins a little further north. Then followed Blevins east back to the parking lot. Very easy, mostly flat 5.1 mile trail with an abudance of wildflowers blooming. Posted a GPX file for mapping.

I actually thought this trip was going to be a different trip than I took back in January but it turns out that this is the same trail which I will post in the GPS section. But, the name of the trip varies with different hikers. Some know it as the Bluff Spring loop and others as the Bluff Spring to Miner's Needle trail. The flowers were starting to pop out on South facing hillsides so flower gazing should be good to excellent over the next few weeks. Also, this trip was hiked by the wonderful Sierra Singles group which allowed me to attend with them. The trip was rated at a "C" which is true as we covered the 10 miles in about six hours, a leisure pace. Topper was recently groomed and had to stay home to look pretty. Somehow that is like having a shovel with a chromed blade. :?

Hiked from Ballantine Trailhead to "The Boulders" along Camp Creek. Nice trail done as a loop with the meetup 443 "Take A Hike Group." Beautifully overcast day with temps near seventy.

Because of the upper trail head parking lot being completely full, I hiked this on Saturday from the larger parking area (horse unloading area) and followed Trail 104 (Dutchman) to hike in a counterclockwise loop. The area has plenty of water flowing although the creeks have receded since last weekend. Mexican Poppies are starting to show with a lot of green ground cover to indicate that other flowers are soon to follow. The hardest section of the trail to follow is the intersection between 104 trail and the 241 which is made in a wide wash which can quickly erase the trail with a quick downburst. The temperatures were nearly up to the high sixties with sunshine and partly cloudy conditions.

Hiked Pass Mountain today with both my dogs. Susan was at a conference and I couldn't leave the Golden behind. What a beautiful hazy day with high humidity and temps in the high sixties. The haze was left from the recent storm. Wildflowers are starting to pop up all along the trail along with a lot of desert green. I saw one Coyote over towards the archery range and noted that alot of the green by the trail appeared to have been munched on by grazers. Noted quite a few hikers that come in from the Meridian trailhead to avoid paying an entry fee, no comment, just notation.

Hiked this as a cool down from a harder hike the day before down Bulldog Canyon and before the next day's hike into Spur Cross Conservation District.
