Hiked the Tortuga Trail to the Saddle then down to where it met up with Spur Cross on the South Side of Elephant Mountain. First half of the hike had a nice amount of hills (which I like for a workout) The second half was mostly downhill and flat. The desert is so green right now and the wildflowers were in full bloom. Reminds me how amazing Arizona really is. Cave Creek had a fair amount of water in it as well.

Hiked all the way to to the top of Sunrise Peak- amazing view. Worth the scramble and a nice final workout... We sat at the top for about 15 minutes. A few mountain bikers and a lot of dogs. The wildflowers were in bloom and amazing!!!

Love this hike for the workout factor...desert was green but no flowers as of yet. A little bit of water. Want to do all the way to Flatiron one of these days.

Started out at the Gateway TH on FLW and Thompson Peak, connected with Windgate Loop and hiked all the way to Tom's Thumb Saddle. Pretty brutal switchbacks the last mile or so but the view was well worth it. Desert is green but no flowers as of yet.

Remember this area from when I was younger but have never done the hike. Forgot how beautiful the springs are. Nice and easy on the way down and a good clim on the way out. We didn't get in the creek and made it out just before a summer monsoon thundrestorm.

Hit the mountain by 5:00am, nothing like watching the sunrise over the desert. First time hiking at South Mountain, the hills (albeit small ones) were a nice change from the normal flat landscape. Not real scenic but a nice workout.

The hike and scenery were amazing, but didn't make up for how annoying the wait at each of the creek crossings are. We quickly realized why they tell you to allot 3 hours for a 4 mile out and back. We ended up turning around long before the 2 mile mark because the traffic jam at each creek crossing grew unbearable (think anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes) It was too bad, because the setting was beautiful and the day perfect for being outside. Is it better when the water level is lower and the creek crossings are faster?

Very well marked and overall easy hike. There are a ton of Cholla Cactus which I tend to dislike since I hike with a dog. But otherwise, very scenic and a nice 4 miler. The last part of this hike before you reach the saddle is a good hard climb but short and well worth it.

This was our second time doing this and I enjoyed it both times. Nice and overall easy hike- the view of Weaver's from the time is amazing and makes it worth it! Only downside is that it is an out and back hike which aren't usually my favorite.

First Grand Canyon Hike ever and decided to Rim to Rim in one day! Hiked down the North Kaibab and up the South Kaibab (despite all the warnings that rookies should take BA- I would rather hike 3 miles less and it be much harder- plus I hear the views on the SK on much more beautiful than BA and not as crowded) I am STILL amazed- it truly is one of the most beautiful things you can experience in your life. There is so little you see when simply peering over the edge of the rim. Dunk our legs in the Colorado River near the boat ramp which was FREEZING but made all the difference for the hike up- my feet felt so much better after that. We hit the black bridge around 1pm so shade was intermittent, but was more than I was expecting given all the warnings about no shade! The South Kaibab was brutal, but I survived and did better than I thought I would thanks in part to being prepared with water/accelerade/and gu packs. It truly is a test of endurance, stamina, strength, and pure will.

Despite the weather forecast , we decided to summit this and it was well worth it! The snow held off until we reached the meadow and then all hell broke loose so visibility at the very top was reduced to only about 10-15 feet, the Aspens were changing colors and overall is was a beautiful hike!

It was a great day to hike- but busy. This hike seemed almost easy to me this time around due to all the other hiking I have been doing last few months.

Doing Humphrey's next weekend...looking forward to it!

Even though I have been doing this hike twice a week in preparation for rim to rim, the view from the top never ceases to amaze. Best time up so far has been 27 minutes, still aiming for better. It is a tough but quick hike!

The smooth rock reminded me of Granite Dells near Prescott and was amazing- certinaly not the place to be during one of our monsoon storms! Great training hike for rim to rim, we did get lost at the end and didn't make it to the final viweing point. Not sure where exactly we got lost but gave up after unsucessfull attempting to climb up sheer rock and loose dirt. We had to have been so close at that point which was frustrating!

This is a perfect hike to do in the summer in the early morning, we started at 8am and were shaded almost the entire way up.

Beautiful hike, and a lot less crowded than the Wilson Mtn TH. Due to lack of time we weren't able to make the last trek to the top of the mountain, and only hiked to the meadow but the views even there were well worth it.
