Took the advice of Fricknaley, and followed this to Shreve's Saddle, past the end of Soldier's Trail. Great views, and had the trail to myself until the junction right past the end of the trail. Encountered NUMEROUS groups while heading to the saddle, probably coming from the various campgrounds in the area.

Encountered some litter :( Cigarette butts, a wrapper, and an empty water bottle. :o

No shade on this trail, probably won't do it again until fall. No water running in the canyon at this point.

Beautiful hike! Once past Maiden Pools, this is an enchanting hike. I loved the trail through the forest.
Lots of people before Maiden Pools, but had the trail to myself for several hours after that.
Saw a couple with a dog... what's the protocol here? Is it wrong to say something? I don't understand why this happens, given that so many trails DO allow dogs.
Maiden Pools had water, but even if it hadn't been 60 degrees, I wouldn't have gone in. Pretty murky looking.
Very little water at any stream crossings, either.

Brittle bush, penstemon, baby bonnets, lupine, poppies, and several other beautiful flowers that I don't know, especially past Maiden Pools

This was a beautiful hike. BUT: I left the trailhead around 9 am, and it was a very, very hot hike. A breeze kicked in after about 3 miles, but there is no shade at all on this one. The only two spots that I would have stopped were the end, at the pools, and at the wash crossing, which had some running water today.
However, it was a glorious day, and I had the trail almost to myself :) :)

So, with my daughter visiting from Boston, a trip to Romero Pools seemed a great idea. Then the fog rolled in. That was ok, visibility went from 10 miles to maybe 250 feet, but it was stunning. Then the rain came. Wow. In 15 minutes, the trail was a torrent of rushing water. :o (We were about 10 minutes from the pools at this point.) Tried to hang out under rocks, but as you know, there's not much shelter there. The waterfall was huge and loud, the most beautiful I've ever seen it. But boy, that trail became dangerous in minutes.
That was enough to keep me off the mountain when rain is predicted.

With a long and heavy rainfall in central Tucson yesterday, I had hoped there would be water at Bridal Wreath. But there wasn't even a trickle. A beautiful hike on a beautiful day, though. The grasses are turning, so the meadow was especially beautiful.

I hiked this route from the alternate trailhead, off Bear Canyon Road. Just wanted to post that it is under 7 miles this way. Agree that this is an easy hike. It was also a very crowded hike. There were dozens of people on the trail, and dozens of people at the falls. First time that I have seen trash in Sabino. Had a pack full of water bottles, wrappers, and even some cans by the time I got back to my car. Disgusting. ](*,)

I was surprised at the steepness of this trail up to Kent Spring (a vile , post-apocalyptic looking grey substance in the cement pool), and then again surprised at how easy it was after that. The spring on the way up was flowing heavily, but the trail also passed over several dry creek-beds. Also, after Kent Springs, on the very narrow trail that winds along the side of the mountain, there were LOTS of bees at several points. There must be hives close to the trail. At first I noticed the sound, and mistook it for mosquitoes. It was not mosquitoes. I scurried past without incident, but it made me a bit nervous.
It was about 65 degrees, 20 degrees cooler than Tucson. Lovely day! Except for the bees...

Lots of wildflowers blooming; don't know names yet. Tubular orange, red, and purple flowers. Yellow daisy-like flowers. Yellow milkweed.

First time on this trail (just moved here in July.) Note to self: Do NOT do Romero Pools on a Saturday! Lots of hikers, also lots of college kids. :o Got a late start at 10:30, pretty hot but a nice breeze kicked in around noon. Lots of running water at the pools, lots of noisy kids. Beautiful day.

This is a very fast way to get the heart pumping. Rocky trail, the left route is steeper and better imho. Beautiful path through desert fauna, nice canyon view. Good got a quick workout if you move.

Great hike; nice uphill trek for 3.5 miles, downhill a bit slow due to rocky condition. Better to not twist an ankle :( I've only been hiking for 3 months; this took me just under 3 hours. Went to Wasson and back the same way. Lots of wildflowers and lots of flying insects.
I didn't see another person the entire way.

First time on this trail; wished I had waited until the grass died. Lost the trail on the way up due to tall grasses, scrambled around some boulders for awhile, then got out the GPS and found the trail. Very green, still lots of flowers blooming. Saw one other hiker the whole way. Beautiful views of a meadow at the summit.
