I picked up my nephew from school and we headed up to cool off in Beaver Creek. We didn't hike far. The parking lot was crowded, presumably with people swimming at the crack. We just went to one of our favorite spots to sit under the waterfall and enjoy the view. Had it to ourselves. The clouds, the green and the lovely lighting made for some extra gorgeous scenery. We finished off the day with dinner and live music at Farm a go-go in Cornville. Highly recommend eating there.

We hiked this trail yesterday for the first time. I cannot imagine doing it in the summer. What a killer uphill! The views were nice and of course fossil creek is amazing. It was neat to see the springs and the dam. There was still a bit of snow on the trail and a few muddy spots. The parking lot was packed, but it didn't feel overly crowded. A few people were swimming. It was a bit too cold for me. I'd like to swim into that cave though. Maybe I'll try the flume trail next time.

We started on the skunk tank section and came back on the 4. There was a group of trail runners doing a 50 mile run today. Wow! Not many hikers or wildlife other than birds and some cows. The weather was about as perfect as it can get. We don't often hike 10 miles. We were tired. I don't know how some of you do such long hikes. My little dog did great. He has a bad leg and I have to carry him occasionally. It's nice he is small enough to stand on my fanny pack. Today was his longest hike ever. I like a loop, but I think next time I'll just hike further on the 4. It's more interesting with the water and the awesome cactus.

My dad and I hiked this trail for the first time and continued to Vultee arch. The climb was a great workout. There were a few trees to climb over or under on the trail before we crossed the wash approaching the arch. The arch was way cool and we were the only ones there! The hike back down to the car was the worst for me. Steep and slippery. The color was nice and it looks like it will be getting better.

I hiked this trail yesterday with my parents and my dog. It was our first time on this trail and my first time using route scout. We hiked to the 2.9 mile mark where the gigantic juniper was, marvelled at it for a bit, then headed back the way we came. There were some wildflowers and there are more to come. The weather was beautiful and the trees smelled amazing. The oaks were pretty with their fresh green. It looks like they are doing a little tree clearing in some areas. There was lots of shade and when there wasn't, you got great views. It was not strenuous, but the ups and downs gave a bit of a workout. I'll go back again and do more of the trail another day.
