Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña, which literally translates as Hermitage of the Virgin of the Rock, is an extraordinary catholic monastery carved into a massive natural rock formation many centuries ago. Near Tosantos: The town of Tosantos is mentioned for the first time in a document dated April 6, 972. It is therefore reasonable to assume that there was a hermitage community here in the High Middle Ages. Over time, only the main cavity was preserved in use and was transformed into a parish church.
