A little bit of action as we paddle our way out of the bay. We are going to veer right as soon as we are done gawking at this boating situation in front of us.

Appears to be a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) stop log barge.
The barge is designed to transport stop logs, which are used for maintenance on navigation systems, locks, and powerhouses. It features two large spuds (vertical poles) used for positioning and securing the barge in place. The tugboat is attached to the stern of the barge to provide propulsion and steering.

The image shows the twin-screw tugboat Paul L. Luedtke, which operates on the Great Lakes.
It was built in 1988 by Terrebonne Fabricators in Houma, Louisiana.
The vessel is 75 feet long with a breadth of 26 feet.
It is powered by two Cummins KT38-M engines, generating 1,800 bhp.
The tug was acquired in 2013 by Luedtke Engineering of Frankfort, Michigan.
