| no partners | | I had time for a short, snowless hike before work so I headed south with plans to do the Bell Trail. The 17 was snowy from Kachina Village to Munds Park, with countless vehicles rammed up in snowbanks along the highway. Hit the 179 and noticed a large, foreboding cloud near the entrance to Wet Beaver Canyon. Shot some photos of the unfolding drama and then decided to head into Sedona. More drama was unfolding over Courthouse Butte so I stopped for another photo-op along the Bell Rock Path, but it didn't pan out due to rain drops on the lens. Finally decided to hit Soldier Pass, which turned out to be a home run! The trail was bathed in sun pretty much the entire time, but the clouds engulfing the surrounding mountains provided a breathtaking atmosphere! Made it to the pass, which provided nice views of Wilson. Oh yeah, did I mention that I only saw three other small groups on the trail? Can't beat it! Had to pass on an awesome shot available on the drive home at the Oak Creek Canyon Vista due to nearly being late for work. |
