I of course forgot the guidebook, didn't buy a map, didn't print a HAZ map. It wasn't a problem, but at times we weren't certain we were still on the right trail. Despite my lack of preparedness we made it to our destination: Second Water Creek. The journey was just as good as the destination, with desert being green as can be and the creeks gushing with seasonal water. We tried to stay dry crossing First Water, the other two were successful, but I managed to fully submerge both shoes. My buddies weren't dry for long as we crossed creek after creek, sometimes rocks weren't placed in the most convenient places. Garden Valley was muddy as hell, and the trail dropping into Second Water Canyon was water logged. Definitely not a clean and dry trip, definitely in the running for "Hike of the Year". |
