My husband and I took a few days off this week for a cheap stay-cation so we could hike around town and use daycare as a babysitter for our 16 month old. It was colder than I expected today, but we didn't get rained on thankfully. Grass, grass everywhere but not really many wildflowers. The brittle bush are going to be biliously confluent in this area soon -- they're in the pre-bloom dark green phase with shoots starting to go up.

We started from our house and went on neighborhood sidewalks to a cut-through to Paradise Trail then Quartz. We only went up to the outcrop for lunch and then back the way we came. I love the views from the outcrop - especially with cloudy haze today. There was one flaming ocotillo (curious why it was really the only one I saw blooming in the area) that caught my eye especially with all that white rock around.

I finally figured out how to get my iPhone GPS routes uploaded to HAZ!! Yeehaw. I use the EveryTrail phone app to record my running and hiking routes and I use my phone to take pics along the way too. Someone smart and bored needs to make a HAZ iPhone app  that does the same thing!!!
