Saw cars parked at a closed road (FR 42) and thought it might be a good place to check out. The first group of people I ran into warned me of a rattlesnake on the trail--he was gone by the time I got to the spot. The wildflowers were substantial--this is the first time I have hiked in this part of the state--in fact, I have never hiked south of Camp Verde! So, for the first time, I have seen chuparosa, white poppies, desert lupine, scorpionweed and a couple other flowers I'll have to look up to identify. I got buzzed by a rattler, but it was at least 10 feet away in some brush (there was a little wash between us). What a great afternoon! |
