I think I may have cut North a switchback too early because most of the terrain descriptions from hikeaz seem right on except for the lack of wreckage. Hiking up and down the large swaths of boulders is exhausting and somewhat perilous if you aren't careful where you step. Roots and TONS of dead wood make for snags at the feet and body while walking through the wooded areas.
It was a beautiful day. The trail population was sparce when i headed out at 9:30 but it was starting to look pretty full when I rejoined it after nearly two hours in the unblazed areas. The b-24 was the real goal but it was a very enjoyable morning anyway. Maybe I'll go again if I can find someone to come along who knows the way. |
