After Kendrick, it was off to Humphrey to look for the B-24 site. The walk across the meadow right out of the parking lot is real special to us valley rats. The clouds made it even more special.
On the way up we ran into numerous groups that told us it's snowing up top. We just saw some very light sprinkles on our route. We made it to the boulder field and scrabbled the 0.4 mi. and 640 ft in elevation to reach the site. We found out later that if we'd gone one more switchback, it would have been a scramble across, instead of up. Our exploration was cut a little short with what looked like a Storm cloud coming in from the South. Luckily for us it looked like it stayed mainly over the peak.
All in all a great day in Flagstaff and a yummy meal afterwards at Casa Bonita. We don't have to start a "Best Mexican Food in Flagstaff" do we? Thanks Bob and Wally for setting this adventure up, and Joe for just being Joe. We are Glad you take Pride in your Pines in Flagstaff. |
