Dutchman Glade is a great alternative to the summit trail, which I have an aversion to. Leaving the trailhead, a couple lofty clouds hung over Humphrey's. By the time we hit treeline, a dark cloud loomed overhead. When we reached the top of the ridge, it was looking pretty nasty, so we found a semi-protected spot to wait and see what mother nature had in store. The rain seemed to move to the south of us, so Jim decided to head for the summit. I followed him a ways, but the climb up the glade tore me up pretty good, so decided to skip the summit today. I took a long rest at the saddle and had a nice chat with a hippie drifter guy. Jim caught up to me on the descent from the saddle, so we continued back to the cars together. Thanks for taking me, Jim! I'll make the summit next time. |
