| partners | | my first trip to the sierra ancha with preston and my dad. our original plan was altered as it took longer then we expected driving up the FSR to the reynolds creek trailhead (plus i had go into work early the next morning), so we decided to hike to aztec peak from reynolds creek trail. i knew these mountains were sweet from the attention they get from all the phoenix hikers i respect, as well as preston's words of praise, but i was still floored just the same. rugged, lush and covered in a forest that just kicked the pumpkin out of all of my senses, i found myself marveling at almost everything i came across.
we encountered the angriest rattler i've ever seen, a black rattlesnake sitting stereotypically on a dead tree stump. this snake wanted to kick somebody's pumpkin and it didn't care who.
on the top of aztec peak we were met by the famous ranger red, who really is a super nice guy. he said something about some crazy dude from hikearizona who made him do some funny poses for photos the week before...i wonder who that was?
thanks to preston for introducing yet another awesome mountain range in central arizona. i can't wait to come back and see more. |
