On this beautiful fall morning, the three of us plus Skippy the sure footed spaniel headed up the Reynolds Creek Trail. Leaving the trail at the appropriate place, we fought our way through brush, fallen logs, and rockslides to the well hidden #162 cliff dwelling. We thoroughly explored the accessible rooms, where Hank discovered an intact pot base, and I noticed what appeared to be a footprint in roof mud. Randal interpreted with a wealth of archaeological knowledge. The return hike took us past Reynolds Creek Falls, where we took a few photos and peered into the lower fall's abyss. Back at the trailhead, Randal broke out beverages and chairs, and we discussed our adventure until the chill of the autumn evening convinced us it was time to journey home.
It was a wonderful adventure with excellent company! Thanks guys! |
