We did a little climbing on the hot rocks under the Fish Creek bridge during an extreme head advisory. We spent most of the morning roasting like marshmallows over a hot bed of coals. There are some interesting top rope/sport routes on a boulder in the creek bed with a very short approach. (funny how I always laughed at these "wimpy climbers" that didn't like to hike far......now I value the short approaches, too!) These routes were set by Gene Carpenter and Marty Karabin but are not mentioned in any books, to the best of my knowledge. This area is best visited/climbed in the late afternoon through sunset when the rock is in the shade making it more possible to hold on for longer than a few seconds. The rock is crumbly and slick which both add to the adventure here.
