| no partners | | This morning was the perfect time for a hike to Asbestos Point. The early hours of the day provided a crisp, cool breeze without and "bite" of cold. The autumn foliage added color to an otherwise resplendent pine forest. The 3 mile trek in to the mines is almost all uphill and provided some beneficial exercise; the return provided less exertion but pleasant nonetheless. Perhaps this is also the best time of the year to enter the mines since the sun seemed to be at just the right position to illuminate well into the interior of most of the adits. I suppose that one of the highlights is the view of Lake Roosevelt spread before you when you break free of the forest and find yourself open to the horizon. |
