This was my second trip through this slice of heaven with all the crazy AZ colors. I appreciated the invite to join this group of awesome canyoneers. It was a uniquely different experience this time with the Ice Capades--which was seriously an unexpected surprise. Temperature wise my core seemed just fine with my 3/2 wetsuit (although others were experiencing the freezing temps more significantly--drysuit is the way to go, I think) it's my fingers that weren't so happy....gotta work on keeping the hands warmer while still being able to work the camera. Camera and photos--or warm fingers--camera or warm fingers....what to do???
I lost track of the rappels but know it was more than 6 and not all are mandatory. Nothing greater than 80 feet. We also opted to take the canyon ALL the way down this time instead of the exit I have used previously. There's more beauty and raps ahead so don't jump out too soon!
Celebrated a birthday back at the trailhead with a yummy little cake from the Cheesecake Factory! Enjoyed hanging with this great group of canyoneers and meeting some new people on this trip!!
As always, very grateful to those that pioneered this canyon. |
