| no partners | | I drove up to Flagstaff after work Friday to spend the weekend. I met Mike and his friends for a late dinner. When we got to their house I left most of my stuff in the car, I just brought overnight stuff and sandals. It snowed 2 feet overnight and I had to de-snow my car to get my colder weather clothes and shoes. Mike had to dig it out so I could move it to save his snow free spot parking spot when we left. I guess this is typical operations for Flagstaff; lesson learned. I haven't skied in over 10 years and even then I wasn't proficient at it. I secretly hoped that the roads would be closed due to the weather conditions, but that didn't happen. I decided to go with the flow and go enjoy the last weekend of Snowbowl. I had to borrow clothes and skis from Patty, but everything worked out just fine. It was beautiful up on Agassiz and the snow kept falling. At fist I wanted someone to stay with me but then I realized it was easier to try to get the hang of it, if no one I knew was watching. I was a little frightened to find myself on a black diamond route because of how I had remembered them in the past. It wasn't a true BD, just a bit steeper than I preferred. The day was great, and on the last run I HAD to stop and get my pack camera out of my coat to try to capture an amazing sight. I think it captured about 10% of the view I saw! |
