| | | Amazing destination! This is one of those must do hikes that leads you to a perfect lake side camp site. I knew the moment we arrived I would return! Put this on your list whether it be a day hike or overnighter.
Quick summary, a bunch of us HAZ folks met up and drove up to the trailhead. We made solid progress hiking up to the rim. From there it was smooth sailing to the lake. The camp spot is perfect and can accomodate a seriously large group! After settling in, Kyle and I made the loop around the lake. The west side got a little interesting as we worked our way down a ravine. From there we returned to camp.
Dinner was great and then we all set in around the camp fire. The wind was a pain but tolerable. The guitar Joel brought really made the difference passing the time listening to him and Liz play. The temps did get pretty chilly. I turned in around 11 and tossed and turned most of the night...just couldn't get comfortable.
Woke up the next day and ate a quick breakfast. Afterwards packed up and then made the stroll back to the car. We cruised back and were back in town in no time. This was a great weekend and I'm really glad I took the chance on this group of hikers. Everyone was awesome and I can't wait to get hit the trails again! |
