This was also my first attempt at a non-guided cave tour.
This cave is not for the tall or portly, as there are quite a few tight spots.
We made our way back into the "Big Room" without too much trouble. We were extra lucky to run in to 3 nice Cavers that had experience in this cave. They showed us over to the ladder that takes you down to the "Main Lake". We checked this one and the much clearer Lake to the right for a bit and were just about ready to head out, when we decided to join our "Tour Guides" for a trip to "The Library". We had to descend down a different ladder, and make the tight squeeze through the Wet "V". A short stop at "The Slide" to watch some climb up and slide down.
After making it to the Library and signing the log book, we decided that we'd "Try to find our way back by ourselves". We bid our guides farewell, and started our journey back. For the most part we did real good, with a couple of "We came this way" "No we came this way".
But we did alright, and found our way to daylight.
I had a blast with this. I WILL take a helmet next time to keep the pumpkin from getting banged on overhead rocks. |
