The first entrance into the cave requires ducking down, but the next entrance required getting on all fours and army crawling your way through a small hole to get in. That part is by far the hardest section. We explored up and down, squeezing through narrow passages and enjoying the squeezes. We eventually made it to the big room and stayed here for 20ish minutes into total blackness while enjoying snacks and food. The cave is quite warmer compared to the weather outside, brought a jacket but didn't need it at all. Afterwards we went down the ladder to the lake area. The water is a bluish/green color and had white specks of stuff floating on top. After spending some time here we headed back, following the very helpful green, reflective signs to guide us out. After the hike we attempted to find a nearby mine that was marked in a map near the campground, but failed to find anything mine related except a survey corner post and two old bottles. Extremely fun trip in all. |
