| partners | | Headed for the high country to beat the heat. We attacked the Hump via Inner Basin. WOW. Locket Meadow was beautiful, the densely populated Aspens going up the IB trail were a treat and the views of Doyle, Fremont, Agassiz and Humphreys were spectacular! We started seeing spotty snow around 9000'. Some drifts were 5 or more feet tall.
This hike is in my top 10 for sure. I need to hit it again when the leaves change. The summit at the 12,633' Humphreys was extremely windy, almost knocking me off my feet.
I was very impressed as a married couple, more than likely in their late 70's were making the final push up the Summit as we were coming down. I hope I can do that at that age.
This was a day of meeting/seeing new HAZ'ers. Booneman and Mark Y blurred by us just past the first pump house. Tough_Boots and John9L were coming off the Humphreys Summit as we were climbing it, and JuanJaimeiii and "His Boy" Drew were climbing the Summit as we were coming down. Good to meet all of you and to see Kyle again. We also thought we could see JimH and Cindyl on top of Doyle. |
