We hiked to glacier point & back down to yosemite valley the first day, a small 8 mile hike to the sequoias the 2nd day & did the half dome hike june 22nd,the day they finally installed the cables. We started early,we hit vernal falls and the mist trail by 7 a.m.. Wow was it cold & wet! The tremendous roar of the waterfall from the spring runoff into the merced river washumbling to say the least! The ponchos helped somewhat, but the wind n mist from the river still drenched us & it was cold!! We continued up to nevada falls & had a snack & took a lil breather. Then we continued to lil yosemite valley & back around half dome.when we approached the sub dome,i admit it was very intimidating! The views were fantastic! The work crews didnt finish installing the cables until around 4 pm. We got to sub dome around 11 pm & were burning up on the granite peak with no shade. Subdome is pretty steep in its own right with no cables, but we made it! I will def be back to do this hike again, its a must do hike for any bucket list!! |
