| partners | | NIGHT RIDGELINE!!!
John had the idea of doing the ridgeline as a night hike a few weeks ago when I had invited him on another night hike and it sounded like a great idea to me. We waited for a weekend when the moon would be big and bright and that was scheduled for this weekend. Unfortunately, even though it was the night after a full moon, the moon was not very bright at all. It was still nice, though.
We started up Siphon at about 6:30 and it was still pretty warm. I blame the heat and the large amount of pizza I had consumed earlier that day because I was a total slug getting up to the Flatiron. Dark hit just before reaching the top and we had a beautiful sunset framed by the walls. Reaching the top, I felt much better and we worked our way across the ridgeline. We lost the trail a few times but its mostly still pretty easy to follow in the dark. Coming down to Carney was a total pain in the pumpkin as expected and we finally finished at about 3am.
I'll probably never do it again but I'm glad I can say I've done the ridgeline at night!  Thanks, John, for being good company, patient, and up for adventure!
Also, this hike put me over 500 miles and 100,000 feet so far for the year!  |
